LET'S START!

First time in Tokyo and looking for the must-see places?
Been to Tokyo before and looking for something you haven't been yet?
Do you want to know what fun the area around Tokyo has to offer?
Or maybe you want to know about places further away that are worth a visit?

Well, maybe I can help!
My name is Riku and this blog is here to introduce you to some great places in and outside Tokyo that you may not know about yet!

WHY THIS BLOG?
During my 3rd stay in Japan I had a lot of trouble finding places to visit that I hadn't been to yet. Many extensive internet searches later I found myself pointed to the same big tourist places time after time. Very often places I had already been before. This disappointed me, so I decided to start creating a blog as soon as I came home to introduce people not only to the well-known tourist spots, but also the lesser known gems I eventually found!

THE PURPOSE OF THIS BLOG?
I'm probably not going to do extensive background information on places. Neither am I going to do entrance fees, opening times or how to get everywhere. If you found this blog, I'm confident you can find that information yourself.
For now I'm just here to provide ideas and give your my thoughts on the place.

JUST SOMETHING I WANT TO MENTION
If you plan on travelling far distances by train, you may want to consider buying a Japan Rail Pass. This pass allows foreigners to unlimited use of all JR trains (including the shinkansen, except the Nozomi and Mizuho). The adult fare of a 7-day Rail Pass is less than one return ticket between Tokyo and Kyoto. You could do some big saving there!

- this travel tool gives extra options that could be very useful when travelling with a Japan Rail Pass. It's possible to exclude certain types of trains (like the Nozomi and Mizuho) making it easier to plan your trip.
